I want to welcome those to this new blog within Wichita Falls 360.  I actually grew up in Henrietta, Texas and finished up at Midwestern State University in 1991 with a bachelors in English and a minor in Philosophy.

I was the first in our family to get a post-high school degree, and it has changed my life, how a live and has given me a deep appreciation for the training my dad received from the old carpenters union on Jacksboro Hwy, if I remember correctly.  By getting the skills in carpentry, he was able to provide for our family of four.  My how times have changed.  The union, I think, is dissolved but there are many training programs in this area in which one may get skills.  My point is this, the one thing that has not changed is that you need skills during and after high school to make a decent living.

This blog will be used to highlight local workforce statistics, what employers look for in good applicants and clarify skills that will be useful to you while you continue to make the Wichita Falls area home.  It is my home now.  This area has a rich history of tenacity and growth in which I hope we continue.  I hope this blog may contribute a small tiny piece for continued growth.

Please let me know your thoughts, concerns and dilemmas that face you during your skill attainment or career progression. As we work together looking at local employment issues, hopefully we will discover solutions through passion, reason and self responsibility.  Articulate senarios in which you are faced with today, and let's take on these challenges together.

Look forward to your feedback.
